To,
The Chairman,
LIC of India, Central Office,
Yogakshema, MUMBAI
Dear Sir,
Re: Deprivation of additional qualifying service in the context of re-employed Ex-Servicemen in LIC of India in terms of Rule-27 of LIC of India (Employees) Pension Rules, 1995.
This is further to our letter dtd. 23-01-2020 regarding the captioned subject. The said letter is attached
here with for your ready reference. We regret to note that till date no action appears to have been
initiated from the ER/Personnel Dept in this regard.
For Ex-Servicemen , the service in Armed forces is not counted to add to the qualifying service as per
Rule 27 of LIC of India (Employees) Pension Rules, 1995, though due weightage is given for increasing
the age at entry. Resultantly, they will not get the full pension since they don’t have 33 years of
qualifying service. It is a gross injustice to these heroes who have safeguarded our borders and fought
for the nation.
It is paradoxical to note that those employees who take VRS are getting additional qualifying service to the extent of maximum 5 years but the same benefit is denied to those Ex-Servicemen who retire at the
normal superannuation age.
At the cost of repetition, we point out that as per VI Pay Commission, retirees get full pension if they
have completed minimum service of 20 years and so is the case for RBI retirees since 2013.
Hence we appeal to your good self to arrange to get the government’s approval for full pension if
minimum 20 years’ service is rendered (for all retirees) or till such time before the government’s
approval, we implore upon you to review all such cases of affected ex-servicemen by invoking the
provision of Rule 27(b), thereby giving them the benefit of additional qualifying service so as to ensure them full pension.
Anticipating your kind action,
With thanks and regards, Yours Sincerely,
General Secretary
